- A female-to-male [FTM] transsexual man [transman] is someone who was labelled female at birth but has a male gender identity and therefore transitions to live completely and permanently as a man.
- Female-to-male transsexual men can be described as straight if they are attracted to women, gay if they are attracted to men or bisexual if they are attracted to both men and women.
- May describe someone who is trans and a man.
